PRACTICING WHAT WE PREACH
Northcutt has long been aware of the hypocrisy and environmental costs from filmmaking, so our teams tread lightly where possible: from working lean, hiring local crews and using remote workflows; to licensing existing footage; to eating responsibly and shipping and receiving things slowly rather than overnight; to making sure that our stuff gets a new home as soon as we no longer need it so it can be reused before it’s obsolete, donating equipment to ewastecollective.org and paying GreenDisk.com to recycle our Technotrash, and more.
Impeccable is the word I would use to describe Patsy Northcutt’s standard and quality of work. She is a master at what she does, and is unstoppable in her commitment to produce flawless, effective, brilliant videos. The added gift is that she and her team are a total joy to work with.
The beauty and artistry of Patsy Northcutt’s filmmaking is soul stirring. Working with her was one of the greatest experiences of creativity in my life. I was burning with passion to bring forth something beautiful, but did not know how to do it. Patsy and her team worked with me until they intuited what we were after. And then she made it happen — with the pacing, the visuals, the plot, the music. Day by day, she worked her magic and it was mesmerizing to be a part of it. Patsy Northcutt insists on excellence and she knows how to make it happen.
Patsy Northcutt’s strategic thinking and creative spirit enabled us to turn an initial small-scale shoot into an international production, leading to a wide use of our video. I’ve known Patsy for over 17 years. Every production that we’ve done with her, she has supported professionally from soup to nuts, with care for detail and quality, always on the lookout for synergies with other organizations. Working with her vastly amplified our ability to promote our message.
Patsy Northcutt has rare skills that make her an outstanding film producer for the business world. She consistently translated the gist of the messages that our teams at Apple, AT&T, IBM and Siemens wanted to convey and converted them into stories that exceeded all expectations in terms of clarity, impact, incisiveness, and entertainment value. I highly recommend her and her extraordinary team.
Patsy worked with us at Bioneers for 10 years, and she is a joy to collaborate with. The teams she assembled are skillful, mature and gifted team players, and she adapted styles and approaches that improved our media products year after year. Our team loved working with her, and found her to be consistently creative, professional and responsive to suggestions. If you’re considering working with Northcutt Productions, I’d say go for it!
Working with Patsy Northcutt on EARTH FOCUS: Vanishing Coral reminded me of the top editors when I was at ABC News Primetime–who were some of the best in the business. She has mastery of the technology, a natural sensibility for how to make a powerful sequence without a lot of experimenting, and a great sense for the story arc. Director Stephen Olsson and I felt like we were part of a creative family at her studio. Patsy brings out the best in people, and the high level of respect that she has with her team greatly benefited our project.
Patsy Northcutt (director/producer) has two strengths that make her unusually good: First, she knows when to power drive a project with considerable strength and when to have a light hand on the tiller, letting people do their thing but keeping the ship on the right tack just the same. Second, she gets different kinds of people from very different and normally incompatible backgrounds to work together by providing a communication link among them, through her.
Patsy is the best film producer I have ever worked with! Her ability to bring together and manage a diverse team of very creative and energetic people made the impossible become possible. The impact of the films she has worked on have touched millions, changing minds, hearts and lives in the process. If you are doing a film with a purpose, hire Patsy.
Patsy Northcutt created a marketing video that beautifully told the story of how our tutoring program positively impacted both the end user (students) and our institutional customers (school districts). Patsy took initiative to do matrixed research across our teams to deeply understand our offerings and their impacts. Then she and her team crafted a powerful video that resonated well with both our English and Spanish speaking clients and our new employees, and helped us continue to grow rapidly. Patsy is friendly, positive, passionate and unstoppable.
The Northcutt edit suite is based within walking distance from downtown Mill Valley, California located in the San Francisco Bay Area just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. We have beautiful, outdoor seating options, and much of our work can also be done remotely.
